Studied physics at the University of Hamburg with specializations in solid state physics and particle physics. His diploma thesis was in the area of radiation measurement using solid state detectors.

He joined Manitz Finsterwald Patentanwälte PartmbB in 1993 and qualified as a German Patent Attorney and as a European Patent Attorney in 1998. Registered representative before the Unified Patent Court (UPC) since 2023.
