Studied physics at the Technical University in Stuttgart with a specialization in experimental physics and completed his dissertation at the Max-Planck-Institut für Metallphysik in Stuttgart. He has worked in intellectual property since 1988.

He joined Manitz Finsterwald Patentanwälte PartmbB in 1993 and qualified as a European Patent Attorney in 1992 and as a German Patent Attorney in 1993. Registered representative before the Unified Patent Court (UPC) since 2023.
